Moving back to Texas

Hello my friends.

It’s been a while since we’ve last touched base, but I have some news.

After a lot of thoughts, experiences, and hard decisions, I’ve decided to move back home to Texas.

For the sake of this story not being longer than it has to be, I’ll spare you all the nitty-gritty details and tell you what I want you all to know more than ever:

  1. This is good thing. I’m so happy I’m moving home, and I know it’s the right choice for me.
  2. California was NOT a mistake. I’ve grown more as an artist, a friend, and a person.
  3. Yes, it hurts leave this place, but my heart just belongs to Texas.
  4. I am so thankful for the people I know out here that have taken such good care of me. My roommate, Erin. My friends Kayla, Natalie, and David. My classmates. I am so blown away by all of their hearts.
  5. More than anything, I’m ready to move forward. I love to reminisce, but I don’t like to live in the past.

I’ve learned a lot about myself. I learned that Los Angeles isn’t for everyone, I learned that my friends and family are so important to me, and I learned that life is too short to just wait for happiness to find you. You have to find it.

To answer some general questions, here’s what I got for you guys.

What are you going to do back in Texas?

Once I get home, I’m going to focus on getting settled back in, getting healthier, working a little, and preparing for summer, in which I’ll be working again at Camp Allen. As for the fall, I’ll be going back to school, and I’m not sure where yet. We’ll have to see where Jesus thinks I should be.

Why are you moving home?

Like I said, LA isn’t for everyone. It’s just not for me. I love the people I’ve met, the things I’ve gotten to do, but I can’t be the happiest version of myself out here. I feel that I belong in Texas.

Are you still doing music?

Yes! I couldn’t stop if I tried. Sunday, (tomorrow) March 13th I’m shooting a music video for my new single that’ll be out next month! I’m so excited for you all to hear it. It’s very close to my heart, and tells a lot about the journey I’m on right now. I’m not going anywhere. I love music and I’ll always be playing. Be expecting a couple shows in the upcoming weeks!

More than anything right now, what I need from all of you sweet people is support. As I’ve slowly told my friends and family, I kept expecting sad responses to hear that I’m leaving this place, but I was actually met with excited and loving reactions- that’s what I would love to hear from you guys more than anything. Excitement, love, and support.

I cannot wait to see all of you sweet people when I get back. I promise to do my best and see each of you.

So, this is it. Monday morning, March 14th, my sweet boyfriend and I will be making the road trip back to Texas.

Dorothy said it better than anyone.

“There’s no place like home.”

See you soon, guys.

-Tori
